We first fell in love with Golden Retrievers in 2000 when we adopted Molly. Although we adopted other breeds that met our family's needs at the time, we found ourselves desiring to adopt another Golden for our family, and we want to share that joy with others.
At Silent Creek Goldens, we believe transparency builds trust. Every dog in our program undergoes thorough health testing before breeding to ensure the strongest possible foundation for our puppies and your peace of mind. We follow OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) and breed-club standards for hips, elbows, eyes, and heart, and complete full DNA panels through Paw Print Genetics to screen for hereditary conditions known to affect Golden Retrievers.
These evaluations enable us to make informed breeding decisions and provide families with clear insight into the genetic health and background of their future puppy. When you take home a Silent Creek Golden, you can do so with confidence — knowing your companion comes from generations of thoughtful, tested, and healthy bloodlines.

At Silent Creek Goldens, our commitment is to raise healthy, well-balanced Golden Retrievers that embody the best of the breed. Our program focuses on three key pillars: genetic health, sound temperament, and correct conformation. Each pairing is chosen with care and intention, ensuring every puppy carries both the heart and quality this breed is known for. We take pride in every step of the process and are dedicated to placing our puppies in homes where they’ll thrive as cherished family companions.
We believe every puppy deserves the best possible start in life. From day three to day sixteen, we incorporate Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) into our daily routine. When done consistently and correctly, ENS has been shown to build stronger, more resilient dogs—both physically and mentally. Puppies exposed to ENS often show greater stress tolerance, improved cardiovascular health, stronger heartbeats and adrenal function, and enhanced resistance to disease. It’s a simple, intentional process that lays the foundation for confident, well-balanced Goldens.
Our goal is simple: we want every puppy placed in a home where its temperament, energy, and personality truly belong. Matching families with the right puppy isn’t just part of the process—it’s our priority.
Each litter is temperament-tested at 6 to 7 weeks using the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test, along with daily observation of behavior and development. We use those insights, together with your application and lifestyle details, to ensure every pup is matched to the environment where it will thrive.
We’re committed to breeding healthy, well-balanced Golden Retrievers that meet the breed standard in both form and temperament. All our breeding dogs are fully health tested and cleared for genetic conditions, and we carefully pair sires and dams to bring forward the best traits in structure, temperament, and drive.

Wendy Volhard’s Puppy Aptitude Test © 1981, 2000, 2005
We evaluate prey drive beginning around six weeks of age, using age-appropriate exercises designed to reveal a puppy’s natural curiosity, focus, and response to movement. During testing, we observe how each puppy reacts to visual and auditory stimuli such as a moving toy, a fluttering object, or a sound in motion. We’re not looking for aggression or intensity, but for confidence, engagement, and control — the balance that makes a well-rounded Golden Retriever. need to fill this in
At Silent Creek Goldens, we recognize that every puppy has its own natural instincts, energy, and drive. Understanding prey drive helps us place each puppy in the right environment. Whether that’s a calm family home, an active lifestyle, or a performance or field setting.
We do these test to help us identify puppies best suited for family companionship, active households, or future training in hunting, agility, or service work. Our goal is always the same: to understand each puppy deeply, and to ensure they are placed where their instincts and personality will shine.
